Legendary 1970s funk and soul band from Scotland who conquered the US, UK & International charts with hits such as; Pick Up The Pieces, Cut The Cake, Lets Go ‘Round Again. The group met both popular and critical acclaim racking up nine hot 100 singles, five US top-thirty albums and three Grammy nominations. The 15thmost sampled band in history with the likes Snoop Dogg, FatboySlim, Ice Cube borrowing their melodies AWB are still as relevant today and continue to reach younger audiences.
The title track, "I Feel for You" was a cover of a 1979 Prince track, featuring Grandmaster Melle Mel on the classic "Ch-ch-ch-chaka-chaka-chaka Khan" rap intro and Stevie Wonder on chromatic harmonica (and also a sample from one of his first hits, "Fingertips.") Besides the title track’s meteoric impact were nine other fantastic songs. Any album as dominated by dance tracks as ‘I Feel For You’ is usually brought to an unqualified dead end by its obligatory ballads, but both “Stronger Than Before” (Bacharach-Bayer-Sager) and “Through The Fire” legitimate high points in Chaka’s solo career. A real classic feel to this album and it still sounds fresh.

Candi Staton had been lacking a comprehensive collection of her prime Southern R&B material from her glory years, 1969-1973. Like Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding, Staton's voice is the sound of emotion being ripped from the human heart and offered, bleeding and broken, pleading and yearning, to the listener. Check out her take on "Stand By Your Man," her ethereal Grammy-nominated interpretation of "In the Ghetto" or the soul standard "That's How Strong My Love Is" to see the power and the glory that this collection represents.
