Magic Lady - Hot 'N' Sassy

The female trio from Detroit, Magic Lady served as background vocalists for Enchantment, Bob Seger, Keith Barrow and the Soul Searchers. In 1982 Linda Stokes, Jackie Steele and Kimberly Ball released on A&M 'Hot 'n'Sassy'. The single 'Red hot Stuff' was a R&B hit in the USA and 'Hold Tight' became a cult UK soul track.

The brains behind their formation was Michael Stokes (husband of Linda Stokes). Michael Stokes is a very talented producer and worked with e.g. Brass Construction, BT Express, Enchantment, Bill Withers, Herb Alpert etc etc. In the eighties Stokes was also head of A&R at A&M Records where he signed Janet Jackson and put Atlantic Starr together with producer James Anthony Carmichael (see our other release PTG 34029: Atlantic Starr - Brilliance!).
